 3 Ways to Save Your Instagram Stories Before They Disappear

You’ve probably noticed that your Instagram Story doesn’t stick around forever. When you first send out your Story, it’s visible to followers and followers alike for 24 hours, but after that, it disappears from the platform forever (unless you screenshot it!). If you want to save Instagram Stories beyond this 24 hour window, then you have to take action to do so beforehand. Here are three ways to save Instagram Stories before they disappear!

1) Saving your stories isn’t hard

Instagram stories are a lot of fun, but they’re also short-lived and can disappear in as little as 24 hours. If you want to save a story before it’s gone forever, there are a few ways you can do that. First, take screenshots of the individual stories by clicking on them and pressing the power button on your phone with one finger for about two seconds. Next, open up your phone’s photo gallery or camera roll and find the screenshots from your story. Click on them once to select them, then click Share or Save Image. Alternatively, if you’re on Safari or Chrome browser on your computer, click File at the top of your screen and choose Download.

2) Know when the story disappears (and how long it lasts)

Instagram stories disappear after 24 hours, but you can save them before they disappear. If you’re not sure how, here are three different ways to save your Instagram story. 1) Use the Story’s Saved Story function. You can use this on your desktop or phone: when you come across a story that looks interesting, tap on the Saved button at the top of the screen (in between Close and Send options). 2) Download an app like InstaSave or InstaStory Saver that will let you save videos for offline viewing so long as you have their app installed in advance. 3) On mobile, select and copy the video link from Safari or Chrome’s address bar, then open Instagram in another window and paste it into the post field for uploading a video.

3) Download your stories from Snapchat as a backup plan

The best way to save your Instagram story is by taking a screenshot, but the downside of this is that the image quality will be low. To improve the quality of the saved image, try downloading it from Snapchat as a backup plan. Open Snapchat and tap on the Stories icon at the bottom left of your screen. Next, swipe up on your story in order to download it as a video file onto your device. You can then upload the high-quality footage back onto Instagram or other social media platforms.
